Hair Treatments During Pregnancy

Feature image

Many women wonder if it is safe to have their hair colored or permed during their pregnancy.

Research on dyes, perms and other chemical treatments are limited, but because only small amounts are absorbed through the skin for short periods of time, they are generally considered safe during pregnancy. It is a good idea however to wait until after the first trimester.

If you are applying the treatments yourself it is helpful to wear gloves, make sure to follow package directions, and rinse well so as not to over expose your scalp. You may also consider applying natural dyes which are produced using pure vegetables rather than synthetic chemicals.
